Foreword by Victoria Miro and Glenn Scott Wright. Texts by Martin Coomer and Yayoi Kusama
Featuring a selection of short, personal reflections by the artist on her philosophy of life and art, alongside commentary by Martin Coomer and extensive, specially commissioned photography by Thierry Bal, this lavish publication documents the ambitious presentation of new works spanning Victoria Miro’s three locations and waterside garden. It features paintings, including the artist’s important My Eternal Soul series and signature Infinity Nets, iconic pumpkin sculptures, and immersive, architecturally specific mirror room installations.
Newly conceived for the unique setting of the gallery, the works reflect Yayoi Kusama’s lifelong preoccupation with the infinite and sublime, as well as the twin themes of cosmic infinity and personal obsession as found in pattern and repetition. Yayoi Kusama is published on the occasion of the artist’s exhibition at Victoria Miro in 2016, her eleventh and most extensive to date at the gallery.
